From December 12 to 16, 2024, Prime Cotton LLC visited Pakistan on a business trip to expand Azerbaijan's export opportunities in cotton fiber and yarn. Representatives of Prime Cotton LLC, Azerbaijan's leading non-oil product exporter, held productive meetings with government institutions and major players in Pakistan's textile industry to gain a deeper understanding of the sector.
The delegation included CEO Rovshan Mahmudov, Chief Commercial Officer Tural Alizade, and Deputy Chairman of GP Cotton Holdings Richard Morgan. During the visit, company representatives engaged with the Pakistan Trade Development Authority, Pakistan Textile Council, Ministry of National Food Security and Research, All Pakistan Textile Mills Association, Karachi Cotton Association, Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce, and other key organizations.
The delegation also visited leading private textile companies in Pakistan, including Naveena Yarn Mills, Nishat Yarn Mill, and Crescent Textile Mills. Discussions focused on the high quality of Azerbaijani yarn, its production capacity, and its suitability for meeting Pakistan’s domestic and export demands. In addition to trade, the meetings explored knowledge exchange with Pakistani companies to elevate cotton and yarn production in Azerbaijan to global standards.
Pakistan holds a vital position in the global textile industry as both a producer and consumer. The country ranks fifth worldwide in cotton yarn production, third in consumption, and fourth in exports. Cotton and textile exports account for 60% of Pakistan’s total exports. The country supplies textile products to major markets like the US and EU, leveraging competitive prices and a skilled workforce.
This visit marked a significant step for Prime Cotton LLC in strengthening the international presence of Azerbaijan's non-oil products and promoting its cotton and yarn products globally. Pakistani companies, closely collaborating with global apparel brands, are seen as ideal partners for Prime Cotton LLC.
Rovshan Mahmudov commented: “These meetings open new doors to deepen industrial cooperation between our countries and integrate Azerbaijani cotton into the Pakistani market. With Pakistan’s decades-long experience in cotton production and export, we can boost the international sales of Azerbaijani cotton and yarn while benefiting from Pakistan’s advanced practices with the support of its experts.”
Importing Azerbaijani cotton and yarn will also enable Pakistan to meet its domestic production needs and export goals. This collaboration will strengthen the fraternal ties between the two countries' industrial sectors and create sustainable economic benefits.
During the visit, Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Pakistan, Khazar Farhadov, met with the Prime Cotton delegation, highlighting the importance and growth of friendly and fraternal ties between the two nations. He emphasized the vast trade opportunities and pledged support to strengthen the position of Azerbaijani cotton in the Pakistani market.
